Taper Announces Upcoming Season

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES - Aco-production with Deaf West Theatre and a new play from Culture Clash bookend Center Theatre Group's six productions for 2009 in the renovated Mark Taper Forum. The 42nd season opens with Stephen Schwartz's musical about King Charlemagne's son, Pippin (Jan. 15-March 15), and ends with Culture Clash member Richard Montoya's Palestine, New Mexico (Dec. 3-Jan. 24, 2010), a play set on an American Indian reservation. Octavio Solis' new play Lydia (April 2-May 17), Chekhov's Uncle Vanya (May 28-July 12), The Lieutenant of Inishmore, a black comedy from award-winning playwright Martin McDonagh (July 23-Sept. 6), and the Tony Award-winning musical Parade, produced by Donmar Warehouse (Sept. 24-Nov. 15), round out the offerings. The 2009 season is the first full subscription series in the renovated Taper, which reopens this summer with John Guare's The House of Blue Leaves (Aug. 30-Oct. 19) after a $30 million upgrade.
